FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Portland, Maine (June 23, 2022) – New England Fights (NEF) returns with its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event “NEF 48: Heatwave” on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at the Rink at Thompson’s Point in Portland, Maine. The event will be NEF’s first outdoor event since “NEF 8” in 2013. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur middleweight bout to the card. David Burke (1-0) is scheduled to meet Ryan Fredette (0-0) at a weight of 185 pounds.

David Burke made an impressive debut at “NEF 47” last month in Auburn, Maine with a first round technical knockout of David McCarty (1-2). It took Burke a mere 19 seconds to put McCarty away. He currently trains at Nostos MMA in Somersworth, New Hampshire under the guidance of UFC and Bellator veteran, and former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion, Devin Powell (10-5).

“I’m excited to get in the NEF cage again on July 30,” said Burke. “I feel great and am getting better every day while training at Nostos. I’ll be looking to put on a show for the fans and find my way to another win.”

Ryan Fredette will make his cage debut in the fight with Burke at “NEF 48.” He is a four-time state champion wrestling for Winslow High School in Winslow, Maine. Fredette also won the New England championship at 182-pounds in 2018. He is a member of First Class MMA based in Brunswick, Maine.

“I’m super excited for my first performance,” exclaimed Fredette. “I’ve worked harder for this than I have for nearly anything in the past, and I can’t wait to see the kind of opportunities I can potentially pursue in the sport of MMA.”
