FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Orono, Maine (August 26, 2019) – New England Fights (NEF) will debut in Orono on September 7, 2019 at the Collins Center for the Arts with the promotion’s next mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 40: School of Hard Knocks.”  Earlier today, NEF announced that a catchweight bout had been added to the fight card.  Dominic “Domnation” Jones (2-1) has stepped in to take on Josh “Hook On” Harvey (6-0-1) at a fight weight of 160 pounds.

The original main event, originally scheduled to be Harvey taking on former Young’s MMA teammate Ricky Dexter (1-0), was scratched over the weekend when Dexter was unable to get medical clearance to compete.

The slot did not stay open long as Dom Jones was quick to step up to the plate to face Harvey.  Jones is coming off a win earlier this summer when it took him under a minute to submit veteran Keegan Hornstra (4-11) at “NEF 39.”

“First, I just want to say I’m honored to step in the cage with Harvey,” said Jones. “Mad respect for him – he has worked hard in his career. Stepping up on two week’s notice means a lot to me. I will get to showcase my skills against a game opponent. In this sport, things like this happen. It takes true warriors to step up to the plate. I’m going to give it my all and fight hard and give the crowd a great show and shock the state of Maine with a win.”

Despite all the hype in the media surrounding the original fight with Dexter, Harvey, the reigning NEF Professional Featherweight Champion, maintained a workmanlike approach in the lead up to the bout.  Harvey is all business as he tries to move forward to the next level of the sport.

“I’d like to start by saying that even at 100% health the risk of injury is high in this sport,” stated Harvey.  “I wish Ricky wellness and hope he can rest assured that I’d shake his hand if ever we meet. The opponent swap isn’t going to make a difference in this case especially since Jones and Dexter have such a similar style. Gratitude to everyone involved in keeping me on the card. The show must go on!”

New England Fights’ next mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 40: SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS,” will take place Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Collins Center for the Arts at the University of Maine as the promotion debuts in Orono, Maine.  Tickets are on sale now at www.collinscenterforthearts.com.
